I would i like congratulate the winners of this event, for next time something to keep in mind is when you say how many candles do u see, burnt out candles in english terms dont apply. Therefore, ones without flames, to me and the majority of people dont count as candles anymore

  2. If a light bulb is turned off, does it become a hedgehog instead? :p

Allo u are the boss, but and what u says goes, but the question becomes when does a candles natural life come to an end, obviously a few ppl took a stab in the dark and shared ur opinion

  4. Not me. I would have guessed wrong too :D But I can see how 98 was deemed to be correct.

I guess for a fantasy world, it makes sense that the dead are counted among the living.
Still, the dead don't get to vote in our elections. Do they still count in Germany?

I saw so many people going with 81, I figured that if I went with the crowd, my odds wouldn't have been that good anyway; likely 5/40 or something like that. I also figured "why would the artist have put them there to begin with if they weren't supposed to count." The little bit of logic and the little gamble payed off and I got lucky. You win some, you lose some.

Pfff- I claim a Party foul-- is it still a log after it is burned in the fireplace? Is it still pudding after i eat it? Is it still a beer after i drink it? Is it still rain after it hits the ground? Things that are consumed during use or change forms (like candles) are no longer those things. Party penalty is to consume 2 40's duct taped to your hands and refund the price of entry to the competition. Oh wait, disregard that second thingy.

You nailed it, it was clearly stated

"How many candles can you see in this picture?"

As per definition of a candle -"a cylinder or block of wax or tallow with a central wick that is lit to produce light as it burns"

But good job, BP not only know how to screw ingame events but also how to screw events in general :D

  9. If the question was "How many logs were used to heat Gnob's hut", then yes - the burnt logs would count.
If the question was "How many puddings were served to Mr Big", then the eaten, uneaten and partly eaten puddings would all count
    etc.

Again, the question was: "...howow many candles Gnob used".

No, the question was how many candles can you see in this picture.

Here is what the post of the competition actually says, (from https://board-en.drakensang.com/threads/count-the-candles-forum-event.70156/ )

    "Dear heroes,

After a lot of work and endless hours of preparation, Gnob has finally finished his amazing Christmas hut decoration! People from all over Dracania have come to admire its splendor and magnificence… But there is a little discussion going on, as people are trying to guess how many candles Gnob actually used. When asked, the good-natured troll only smiles and does not reveal his secret…

How many candles can you see in this picture?"

where do you see the word "used" , i can't seem to find in the sentence.

Edit: If the paragraph above the pic is the question then you are right but if the sentence right above the pic is the question then we are right.

  11. Lets put it this way:
    1) a blob of wax which has the shape of a spent candle and still has a wick in the middle, is evidence of a candle used
    2) a candle glow, without seeing the actual candle, is good enough evidence of a candle in use
    3) most importantly: whoever it was who got to decide the correct answer is 98, said "98 is the correct answer", and so it is. :D

A.) The 17 extinguisher candles on the ground could very well be lightable just that when Gnob waved his hand for the pic they blew out. Small candles have small fragile flames.

    B.) extinguished what? oh candle....
