One other question would be if one should add a candle behind the DK's risen palm... there'd be space for another one there xD.

Real candle experience says they won't light, so technically they aren't candles, just candle remains, the corpses of candles past. LOL

With BP, who knows? Anything is possible.

the difference is whether they want lighted candles or candles that "could be there"
being an artist i would say there are more candles than lit candles,
but no one will ever know if its the flames they count.;) send a ticket to support lol:p

The question is how many candles DID he use... Not how many are there now.

If you study the english language you will know it is implied that you are looking for how many he USED...

    Example...

Paul was headed to Richard's house but he fell.

    He is implied Paul.

I speak English and to me it doesn't imply how many he used. He is implied Paul also doesn't make sense. yes I know what it means, but not correctly written.

"you have to guess how many candles Gnob has in his hut."
"people are trying to guess how many candles Gnob actually used"
"How many candles can you see in this picture?"

First quote is from the announcement thread, while the other two are from the section we post our answers in. Bottom line: it's kind of ambiguous o_O, but somewhat to be expected with such guessing games.

Hmmm, I think people have been getting themselves embroiled in a confusion that was not there to begin with.

The official forum event, has a paragraph preceding the "question" which we are expected to answer. The question is, "How many candles can you see in this picture?
Well, a flame indicates a candle is there, but if it can't be seen then we can't count it as an answer to the question. Next, burnt out candles mean that there is no candle there hence we can not count those, leaving only candles that are visible.

Hope this sounds more logical than some of the answers given above ;)

ya Ive studied the English language for around 20 years and I can understand what you mean, but I stand by what erilune says. I don't think BP would take the trouble of posing such a complicated scenario for a simple forum event. I believe it's only a simple question.

But what I will say is that 'the way the candles have been drawn/arranged in the picture and the objects used to obstruct their presence', forces us to make assumptions regarding their presence, hence I think it's wise to answer the question with an assumption that you feel is logical i.e. for example I have assumed that "the presence of a candle is indicated by the flame it emits".

OK I honor everyone's opion but would hate to have to lite a candle just to purchase it. Since the package calls it a candle.

Yeah... it's illogical to say that an unlit candle is not actually a candle, LOL. Then again, it's also illogical to say that a burnt-out one is still a candle (since it's consumed already). And those in the picture shown at the top of this thread are rather consumed, not unlit.

As I've shown above, they mentioned three different things about the candles (how many Gnob had, how many he used and how many we see), but the only one in question form is how many we see. Therefore, AniDrakenSniper93 & Erilune are right.

actually for my answer Ive only assumed that the presence of a flame might indicate the presence of a candle, but not the negative statement i.e. the absence of a flame indicates the absence of the candle. In other words I think the stem portion also qualifies as a candle.

    Does it really matter?
It is not about the candles ... it is about the wax. The wax can be recycled and then you can make candles again ... just like the events.
After all ... we all know waxing is better than shaving.
