Advice on upgrading gear

So far I haven't bothered with upgrading gear as it is expensive and you just end up eventually replacing it for free as you level for the most part. But I've noticed once you get a few good legendary items or especially uniques, they get pretty hard to replace with anything better for many levels. Should I bother with upgrading my high rarity items while I am still leveling and keep them equipped or just wait until I find loot that can replace it?

 

What level are we talking about?

 

Right now I'm Level 31

 

You can find better gear to replace your legendaries at 45. But good stats while levelling helps and you can always melt those legendaries back for glyphs . So if you really think that a particular equip is worth it , upgrade it , you can melt it when you get something better at 45.

 

Upgrade and melt as you go. Since nothing is lost by melting, keep your GOP invested in your gear. It does nothing for you if it sits as a number at the top of the screen unless you are saving for a more expensive upgrade.

The only caution to that is if you feel you are going to keep an item you have upgraded, but not use it. This happens frequently with rare drops like Roshans/Keens. When you get them they are usually usable good items you will want to use, but you will eventually find better. Its a tough choice to melt those super rare drops, so you may have stuff in the bank with GOP invested till you get a repeated drop and can melt the first one.
