Why is there not a client with (EN) only so that it could download less and run a language that most people understand?
Even those that doesn't understand it perfectly will communicate better since all the ingame things will have the same names and not 2+ different and bad translations.
Sure switching over to (EN) is an option but having to do that every time and there seems to be no will to make a "Save as default" check box for language selection, a client that only has (EN) is a very good alternative for developers.

I don't know what you are talking about ... default language for the client and for the game is English.
As you can see this is no Urdu or Swahili:

    Selecting language is :
    1. your choice
    2. automatic (using your IP address)

If the language of your country (found from IP) is available then it is sellected every time the client starts. If your computer is in france the client will start in french every time, regardless of how many times you select EN. Its only if the language of your country is not available it defaults to EN.

I know that ... that is why I listed it as a second option.
But if your computer is in South Africa your client won't start in Zulu every time ... take a look on a bright side. :D

I think that you can change the global language after you log in to your account (via browser) next to your ID# there is a "change data" field where you can modify language settings.

Having an EN-exclusive game wouldn't really be better for everyone. Yes, things would all have the exact same name, but then those who don't speak English will have a terribly hard time understanding most of the content, let alone communicating. Some translations may be bad, but playing in a language you master, rather than one you might be able to handle is heaps better.
I would love such a thing! I play from Romania, but I'm always using the English language for the game, and it'd be cool if I didn't have to manually switch every time.
Actually, I just tried this and it seems to work! Thanks.

trakilaki; I stated in the original post that you could switch over every single time you start the client but that is an unneeded annoyance. That it with out fail starts on the automatic language of the computers country is a fine feature but should be changeable.

.DanielSang.; When I open drakensang website it starts Danish and when I click on change data all of the website changes to English because its already set to English in my profile. It has not effected my client in any way that its been changed and the site doesn't show as English before going to the change data page or sellecting it at the top. Language sellect on all fronts is broken but its the client that I would like to have working. Since it started annoying me I have tried clean installing both the computer and the client, multiple times with client, so I know its not a cookie or preset issue.

Morinphen; I said EN only client not game. Removing all language but English all together would be stupid and at all not what I said. The added bonus of an EN only client would be reduced download size, maybe only with a few hundred MB but thats still time saved.

Yeah, in the last part of my previous post I said it seemed to work, but it doesn't. It's still in Romanian upon entering, and I have to manually change.
Oh, now I get it. So an EN-only client that would be available for download for those who don't want/use the other languages? Actually, that'd be great (and maybe not just for English... they could make versions for each language they currently can deliver the game in). As you said, it'd save some space... and with releases now being ~1GB, it could be quite effective.

@BeyondAct @Morinphen Sorry about that guys, I remember this issue was raised in the past (it might have been in the old forum) and if my memory does not fail me this function was supposed to to have been intended to remedy this specific issue... maybe an admin can enlighten us?

The hotfix took 4 hours to download for you  ? It never takes me that much, maximum 15 minutes.

  12. The client - preload and thin - are available in English and many other languages. The issue is keeping the selected language as the default language. This used to be possible. The suggestion has been made several times to Big Point to return the ability.

If it took you four hours to download the client, you need to check your i-net connection for speed/stability issues and also scan your computer for viruses and other malware. And be careful what sites you visit... Instructions for this can be found in the Tech FAQ thread.
