DK is good for neither unless you have good gear.

From my experience, with average gear, the best for PvE is the ranger
and the best for PvP is the Spell Weaver.
    (This is just my opinion)

However, things change if you are well equipped. DK can be the best in both if you have extremely good gear.

Yes, good gear that does not drop ... The odds are close to 1 in a 5,000 on a legendary drop but even rarer, 1 in 25 - 30,000, for an actual good legendary drop not to mention that the gear you get as drops from Sigris is basically not worth having ... it is just pretty ... You can equip yourself better through the moon events and the special events when they roll through, be patient and just farm ... Most legendary items for DK's are melted as glyph fodder ... So good luck pal, this game is developed so the range characters are the dominant classes ... Yes there are a few maxed out DK characters that are killer and can do this or that and can just walk through an area killing everything, but they are not the norm on the PvE side, they are all PvP ... Period, end of story .,. Without the, "good gear", DK's are nothing more than field fodder for the mobs or other teams characters.

I still do not understand why a DK is expected to be a close combat character. Why is he/she not given a range attack? ... No, a DK is forced to fight right up close in the middle of the mob and yet is not allowed any better gear to do so ...
... Riddle me this .... Why is it ... when you have a DK, who is level 30, does 400 base damage, has 2300 armor and 3700 hit points ... that a Ranger, who is the same level, does between 800 -1000 damage, has roughly the same amount of armor and usually more hit points than a DK has ... "I know a Ranger with over 10K hit points and as a DK, I believe I am doing well with 7K" ...

As a low level 45 DK the best advice I or that I feel anyone could give you, is to see to it that your (PvP) "FAME" bar is maxed out, before your "LEVEL" bar is. Otherwise you are going to die, die, die and the get up and die again and then die again, again, again ... oh yes, and again.

Get in a guild... Make sure that guild has players that are close to your level and that are active players not just someones 2nd or 3rd character. Just joining a guild does not mean that, "It is all good" ... If you have joined a guild and are not able to find guild players near your level in a period of a couple of days or have to wait for someone to switch characters, quit and find another guild .... Do not put it off ... The objective of joining a guild is to find active players that are roughly your level to play with and the sooner you start learning how to play together the better. Make friends with spell weavers ... A DK and a spell weaver that play well together can dominate a playing field or mob ... Their skill sets combined are 5 times more powerful that when separate.

When you get there, farm the Atlantis maps for the Deep Sea set. The more pieces of the set you get, the better it will be for you ... Start the parallel world as soon as possible ... Use your guild ... For most people, who choose the DK character, it is an arduous trudge without a guild or running lobo ... There are those that are going to say differently but 10 to 1 these same people are playing a Ranger for the largest majority of their game play time ... I live DK ... 3 of my 4 characters are DK's ... I am giving you a DK point of view not a Range characters point of view.

Resists are as important as anything else ... Save all Diamond's, Amethyst's and Cyanite stones ... You need resists, armor and hit points ... you armor should/could give you all the hit points and armor points you need... When it comes to resists, get all you can get ... If you go 2 handed ... Not sure what to tell ya except get travel speed enhanced boots, get all the sapphires you can get your hands on and learn to run and jump...

If you go shield get the moon event shield I think it is called the" Vangard " shield ... It is the best I have found ... the sooner you get it the better, so save those fragments ...

This is important ... If you choose to focus on critical damage, go all critical damage, do not focus on anything but critical damage infliction ... Save all your weapon slots for rubies and onyx ... ... Critical damage is a viscous build if done properly ... It is a hard build ... If you choose it that is fine but otherwise don't even save the onyx stones, for you will find they only consume the room in your stash ... that being a ftp, "free to play", point of view ... But seriously ... choose your build path wisely ... I can tell you it is not a good feeling to know that you have put *** hours into the game to realize that you previously melted something that you should have kept ... It is not good ...

Do not get hung up on finding this set or that set after level 40 until you figure out your final build ... Use the Dakensang Wiki a lot ... reference the wiki section on armor and unique sets available to you ...

With the creation of a new map and new characters as well as the level cap being raised to lvl 50 ... Who knows what is in store for the DK's ... The new gear might be very interesting ...
